I misheard write a tree poem,
thought I’m not a tree person,
I’m a bush person; I’m not
a nature person, I’m a nurture person—
which was what she wanted:
words to help her sense love
like baby talk she feeds her pug,
more soft turns of phrase
scented with cologne,
a stanza or two on how she
wears enchanting scarves &
makes a tasty latte.
She hopes to feel appreciated
for her efforts. What choice
but to give her what she wants.
